Welcome to the Lowing Heritage Foundation website. If you are here because your surname is Lowing, cousin, you've come to the right place. My name is Trevor Lowing. I am a descendant of the Michigan Lowing's. A personal dream of mine for many years has been to somehow provide a means of preserving our family history and making it accessible to Lowing's everywhere. It is for this reason that I have devoted a website to our family - www.lowing.org.

There are many websites devoted to tracing family genealogy. Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com are two popular ones. While these are wonderful sources of data they don't contain much personal information. What we want to see is an online archive of personal histories- more than a simple listing of birth, death, marriage and children. We want to collect information about each person's life. Their careers. Their accomplishments. Their stories.

In 1922 one of our ancestors named Frank Lowing published a book titled "HISTORY AND GENOLOGY OF THE LOWING FAMILY - WILLIAM LOWING AND ANNA HAIGHT". Later, in the 1950's I believe, a group of our family published the "Michigan Lowing Family History" which largely updated and expounded upon Frank's work. That publication was sporadically updated over the years.

In the early 1990's Bruce Lowing, my uncle, began the tedious task of importing the information in these earlier works into a software program called "Personal Ancestral File -PAF". When Bruce recently passed away his computer files were inherited by his daughter Heather Moreno (Lowing).

Hugh Lowing Interview

My grandma Nancy showed up for the final twenty minutes. I ripped the audio from the video for bandwith reasons. If I get time I'll transcribe the interview.
